What is ligo latvia?

LIGO Latvia is the Latvian branch of the LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) collaboration. It was founded in 2015 and is based at the University of Latvia in Riga. The aim of LIGO Latvia is to contribute to the detection of gravitational waves, which are ripples in spacetime caused by violent events such as the collision of two massive objects. The Latvian team works on high-precision optical measurements, laser stabilization, and other technical aspects of the LIGO system. LIGO Latvia is a collaboration between the University of Latvia, the Institute of Solid State Physics, and the Laser Centre of the University of Latvia.
